The component worked last week and it still works on iOS. But when I went back to working on it this week, I've been unable to get it to work. It displays the blank dark gray background and default blue titlebar that you'd get if there was no forms component. I tried reverting to an older version in VCS and it didn't work either, so don't believe it was a recent change. Since it was working right up until the end of the previous work day and nothing changed since, I'm very confused as to what broke.
There's no errors or warnings in the output. I tried creating a blank shared project and it worked fine, so I don't believe it's my device in general.
The project is a shared project utilizing Xamarin.Forms. The Android device is an Xperia Z2 running Android 5.0.2. I'm building with Visual Studio 2015. I only have a single device to test on and cannot use an emulator because the app depends on camera access.
Things I've tried:
- Changing around the XAML file to a single label in case it was related to the contents of this.
- Deleting the obj and bin folders.
- Restarting my computer and phone.
- Cleaning and rebuilding the solution.
- Uninstalling the app from my phone.
- Disabling "use shared runtime" in the Android options.
- Disabling "use fast deployment" in the Android options.
- Running without a debugger attached.
- Running in release mode (for which I had to raise the API level to 21 due to a Xamarin bug).
Perhaps of note is that when I background the app, trying to restore it is very laggy and results in the app going black for a few seconds.
I've been trying to fix this for several hours and made no progress what-so-ever. This is a project-stopping bug, so any help is greatly appreciated.
