Android Emulator Not Completing launch

I have an XF app that was originally written for iOS/PCL and works beautifully on that platform. Now I've added an Android app to the solution, added all my components and hooked it all up to the PCL. I managed to get the app to actually show up on the Android Emulator yesterday. Today, I went to compile and launch and, after spewing a thousand lines of debug messages, ends up sitting on the following and nothing happens in the emulator:

08-06 09:42:19.647 I/Choreographer( 1502): Skipped 895 frames! The application may be doing too much work on its main thread.
08-06 09:42:19.692 D/gralloc_goldfish( 1502): Emulator without GPU emulation detected.
08-06 09:42:20.115 I/Choreographer( 1502): Skipped 601 frames! The application may be doing too much work on its main thread.

I tried to manage the emulator settings in VS, but when you try to edit the emulator you get a screen telling you that there were too many errors to load. I don't know about the rest of the XF community, but in general, would you not have to say that the Android experience is just plain terrible. I've had nothing but trouble trying to get this to work. And I thought iOS was supposed to be problematic. It's a breeze compared to Android. Way too many files involved, way too much going on when compiling and debugging. Maybe the debugger for Android is just more verbose than iOS. 2 days in, I'm about to tell all my clients if they want a phone app, get an iOS device. Arghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this emulator. And BTW, I tried downloading the Xamarin beta emulator and of course that doesn't work either. When you launch it, it says, "Unable to find VirtualBox", which was installed by the Xamarin Android emulator installation process and I can run independently.
